Corral Demos Today
Today, you will give demonstrations of your robots on the two exercises from the last lab: To get out of a corral with use of the bump sensors, and then to also use the light sensors (the entrance will be brightly lit). Be prepared to demonstrate, talk about, your robot design as well as the specific features of your algorithms.
Introduction to Subsumption Architectures
This is an alternative way to writing robot programs. Today, we will get an introduction to the idea of subsumption architectures.
Note: The material on subsumption architectures was taken largely from
copies of papers by R. Brooks, A Robust Layered Control System for a Mobile Robot,
IEEE Journal of Robotics and Automation, RA-2, 14-23, 1985, and a Chapter from Jones
& Flynn book, Mobile Robots (Inspiration to Implementation), A. K. Peters,
1993.
